Why is it important? |
- It is concerned with things that are important to you, e.g. children’s and young people's rights.
- It deals with issues that are happening in your community.
- It also deals with issues in your country, in the EU and in the wider world.
- It shows how important it is that we all work towards a more equal and just society and world.
- It emphasises that all people’s rights must be respected and that as well as rights we have responsibilities.
- It shows how important it is for you and everyone in a community to play a part.
- It encourages you to respect others in the same way that you would like to be respected.
- It looks at how our government works.
- It looks at how laws are made.
- It helps you to understand the issues you explore, what can be done to change things and most importantly what you can do to change things.
- It assists you to develop informed opinions on these issues.
- It helps you to develop skills that are important in being an active citizen.
- It allows you to think about your attitudes to certain issues and how these attitudes affect you and others.
- It allows you to have a say.
